Meet the instructors

Jamie (USC '23, BS Health Promotion and Disease Prevention)

Jamie leads individual and group math and science competitions.

 

She aced all her AP classes and tests (AP chemistry, language, biology, calculus) and is also proficient in English, particularly essay writing.

Aaron (Harvard '15, BA English)

Aaron leads individual non-fiction*, fiction, and poetry writing competitions.

 

He has nearly ten years of experience working with students on essay competitions. Notable results include Poetry Nation's Amateur Poetry Competition (semi-finalist), Scholastic (silver key), and Dear Poet (winner).

*Non-fiction essay competition topics include politics, history, philosophy, literary analysis, and journalism. He occasionally does competitions via request.

Competitions

Students will take six math tests over a school year; rankings are determined by aggregate score.

Writing

Students will write an essay on which is more important to protect: the environment or economy.

Students will write an essay exploring how the study of world history has affected their  understanding of the world.

  • Deadline: 5/1/23

  • Size: individual

  • Grades: K–12

  • Estimated Time: 6–8 weeks

Students will write a personal essay or fiction on heroes fighting climate change. 

  • Deadline: 6/13/23

  • Size: individual

  • Ages: 11–18

  • Estimated Time: 4–6 weeks

Students will write a lengthy history essay (7,000+ words) on a topic of their choice. 

 

NOTE: This competition is for highly qualified students only and will take approximately one year to complete. Aaron must approve before enrollment.
